Kota Kinabalu, the capital city of the state of Sabah took centre stage recently, with the JCI Kota Kinabalu’s (JCIKK) 55th Installation and Award Ceremony. The glittering event – which marked 55 years of JCIKK’s youth leadership in the state – was held at Hotel No5 and graced by Yang Berbahagia Datuk Yeo Boon Hai, the Mayor of Kota Kinabalu. The day also witnessed the official installation of Patrick Teo as the JCIKK President for 2017.
Since its inception, JCIKK has constantly exhibited its commitment TO engage and train tomorrow’s leaders and strive to make the community a friendly and welcoming place to live in. Back in December 2016, IPEC Bureau officially accepted the invitation by JCIKK to be its patron for 2017 hence an official announcement of this alliance was made at the ceremony with the presence of IPEC Bureau’s Chief Executive Officer, Dr Juliana Lim.
In her speech, Dr Juliana spoke of her delight to commit as the patron as well as her hopes for 2017 with JCIKK. “I would like to stress that IPEC Bureau’s commitment is not merely providing financial support but contributing a sense of direction and driving the vision together with JCIKK. There are numerous activities in the pipeline geared to build “People Transformation” and empower the wellbeing of the people,” she said.
“I am standing here today, because I have committed myself to empowering our spirit, to grow stronger, and to educate the people about the impact we are about to make together with JCIKK. I hope that this partnership bonds us stronger than ever as we participate and contribute to the rise of an incredibly powerful future and, most importantly, inspire young minds to excel as leaders and build a strong community,’ she added.
