Malaysia will be hosting the 39th ISO COPOLCO Plenary Meeting, between 15 and 19 May 2017 and IPEC Bureau will be one of the sponsors of this international event. The prestigious Pullman Hotel in Kuala Lumpur will take centre stage as the venue of the Plenary Meeting which is expected to welcome over 200 consumer representatives from approximately 80 ISO member countries, for a special workshop and capacity building sessions on vehicle safety.
The ISO COPOLCO is one of many important policy development committees that advises the ISO Council on development of international standards and ensures proper compliance of these standards by businesses to improve consumer confidence in safety and performance of relevant products and services. IPEC is excited to extend its support as the event aims to initiate changes and reforms to policies and compliance related to vehicle safety standards.
The 39th ISO COPOLCO Plenary Meeting is organised by Standards Users, Department of Standards Malaysia, and supported by the Federation of Malaysian Consumers Association (FOMCA). Notably, IPEC is partners with Standards Users where community relations are concerned. IPEC’s Impartial Committee and Beauty Science Industry Scheme Committee also consists members from Standards Users, as representatives of NGOs and voice of consumers.
In view of our participation, IPEC Bureau recently held a meeting with Professor Datuk Dr Marimuthu Nadason, the President of Standards Users and FOMCA, to discuss our support and sponsorship of the 39th ISO COPOLCO Plenary Meeting.
